A week of action was recently undertaken in Liverton Mines by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council in partnership with a number of other agencies. The Neighbourhood PoliceTeam, Fire Services and The National Probation Service worked alongside the Council Neighbourhood and Community Safety Partnership Teams to deliver activities and advice sessions for the residents of the village and to action a number of environmental improvement schemes. A “Bring Out Your Dross” day was held whereby members of the Neighbourhood  Team removed large items of waste free of charge from dedicated collection points throughout the day. This proved verysuccessful with the  removal of sixteen and a half tons of waste, including electrical items, white goods, furniture, vehicle components, tyres and wheels, scrap items, gas bottles and all other household waste. The construction of a new birdsmouth fence around the play area at the rear of lower Cleveland Street was carried out by The Community Payback Team, the work still continuing with a clean up of the site and a repaint of the Youth Shelter to be completed. A council spokesman said , “ This is another fine example of partnership working by all the agencies for the good of the local community, I would like to thank everyone involved for their sterling efforts throughout the week.”
