Vin Garbutt ‘Teesside Troubadour’ saw its world premiere at Middlesbrough Cineworld multiplex in November and earned high praise from movie goers. It is the story of Vin’s roving life as serious folk singer and zany comic and was fi lmed over a period of three years on the road and around the world. Vin said “Its been quite a journey making this fi lm. Craig came with me on the road to Canada, Malaysia and Australia. He’s fi lmed every aspect of my whole life I think and found archive fi lm that I didn’t know even existed! The work that has gone into the project is unimaginable. He is a true perfectionist.” Craig said “I made the fi lm because Vin is Teesside’s most prolifi c and enduring ambassador. He’s a legend on the folkscene around the world but isn’t known enough in his native Teesside. This is not a fi lm just for folk fans, it’s about a Teesside man and his extraordinary life and I know many people on Teesside will appreciate it. I’m sure it will end up being sent far and wide spreading a bit of real Teesside culture.” Advance signed DVDs were on sale at the recent sell out showing of the film, in Saltburn Community Centre which also featured a special performance by on form Vin as well as an introduction by Craig and a Q & A session. The film will be screened at Georgian Theatre, Stockton on April 28th followed by Q&A with Vin and Craig plus Vin live set! Special treat for East Cleveland residents and to celebrate its 30th anniversary day, Guisborough Bookshop will be hosting a special DVD signing session on 30 April at 1.30pm. Vin and Craig will be there and who knows you may get a tune or two from Vin. The DVD will go on general release from May 1st. Full details can be found at www.pancrack.tv.
