A fantastic new play area has recently been officially opened in Lingdale, by the Mayor of redcar & Cleveland , Councillor Ray Goddard and Casey Stonehouse (11) the Chairman of the School Council. The opening was also attended by the Leader and Deputy Leader of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Cllr George Dunning and Cllr Sheelagh Clarke, together with Kevin Wilson, Neighbourhood Manager for the Lockwood area. The play area is an extension to the existing Quarry Community Play Park and was the initiative of the Borough Council along with other organisations. Cllr Goddard said: “I am proud to open the play area for the children of Lingdale, to use and enjoy. “It is vital that communities work with the Council, to provide local facilities, which reflect the needs of the people and I would like to thank everyone involved for
their hard work and commitment to this project.” Leading groups involved in this project are Lingdale Lift Off Community Group, Impetus, Leader and Groundworks. Lingdale Parish Councillor Mike Jefferson said: “All has been possible, because of everone working inpartnership. I would like to thank Sheila Stonehouse, who unfortunately can’t be with us today, but has been a big rock to us all.” Lockwood Borough Councillor, Steve Kay added: “It’s great to see the partnerships between the local community, especially Lingdale Lift Off, together with the Council and with the efforts of In Bloom and the Mining Heritage, all pulling together to make the village of Lingdale a far better place to live in, than ever before.” Cllr Kay thanked the people who play a leading role in the Council, for attending and for the organisers for holding such a wonderful event.
