‘Big Lottery Funding for better places to live now and in the future’ The Big Lottery Fund gives money to good causes. It has invested £200m in a new trust to fund Big Local. Money is set aside to help up to 150 areas in England become better places to live. The East Cleveland area will get £1m of Lottery money over ten years. The Big Local Trust will look after the money for all the areas, but local people will decide how it is spent. Big Local wants local people to work together to decide what their area needs or what can be improved to make it a better place to live. BIG has given a small grant to Tees Valley Rural Community Council, (TVRCC) to help you think about how you would like to make changes and improvements in your community over the next ten years. The grant, called ‘Getting People Involved’ will fund activities between now and October 2011 to help you get ready and get the most of the trust when it begins to operate. TVRCC is holding a series of briefing sessions on the Big Local in each of the communities. All residents and community organisations are invited to attend to hear about the initiative and how your village can get involved. Find below the schedule which shows the dates/times and venues for each meeting throughout June and July. If you are unable to attend the meeting in your area, but would like to be involved, require further information on the Big Local or to confirm your attendance please contact Mary McDermott at TVRCC on 01287 643904 or 01642 213852 or email mmcdermott@teesvalleyrcc.org.uk
