Keen gardeners deserve a pat on the back

On Tuesday 24 May, the Chaloner Primary School,Garden Club children, and their teacher went along to help plant up the flowerbeds outside the Guisborough Pool entrance. These keen gardeners have been doing this job for the last four years and the users of the Pool say they always look forward to them coming. Quita Owen from the Aquafit Club said: “These children work very hard, and are excellent ambassadors for their school. The flowerbeds make a lovely display, which bring a lot of pleasure to people, and the Chaloner children really deserve a pat on the back for what they do.” Quita went on to say, “The Aquafit Group raise money to pay for the plants, but apart from the children, all the hard work is done by the Guisborough Allotment Society and two local volunteers who do the digging and weeding. This year many of the plants were raised from plug plants by volunteers at the Society, and many others provided by Mr Dave Oliver, who grew them from seed, especially for us. We are very grateful to everyone concerned, not forgetting Andy Roberts and his team from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, for their ongoing support and interest.”
