Villages In Partnership

An innovative project has been born out of two communities who just simply want to help each other. Villages In Partnership (VIP) is the brainchild of Skinningrove residents, Tommy Evans and Councillor Barry Hunt and Lingdale Parish Councillors Vic Davison and Mike Jefferson. Barry said: “This idea came about after Tommy and I visited the Lingdale Lift Off Project. We were so impressed by what they had achieved, that we thought maybe we could do something to help each other out. They inspired us to do more for our own village.” Mike, Chairman of Lingdale Lift Off added: “Barry and Tommy have some great ideas for Skinningrove but sometimes we all need help to get our ideas put into practice and completed. That is where we could maybe step in because sometimes you just can’t do it alone. “Both our communities have a lot in common but we each have our own strengths and weaknesses. So in this case it’s a bit like two villages are better than one when it comes to getting jobs done.” “It’s all about strength in numbers and forming VIP will enable us to help and support each other,” said Barry. VIP is about the enhancement of the smaller, rural villages and communities in East Cleveland. They will meet on a regular basis and eventually form a committee and set a constitution, working towards their common goals.
