A telephone helpline has been launched for people wanting to apply for any of the 1,000 jobs up for grabs at the SSI steel plant in Redcar.
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council set up the hotline for anyone who may need support in staking their claim for the eagerly-anticipated roles.
The helpline number – 01642 442988 – will be available daily from 8am to 7pm.
Callers will be asked what level of support they need before being directed to one of a number of venues across the Borough, nearest to where they live, for help and advice.
People who do not require the helpline can apply for a job online by visiting the SSI website at www.ssi-steel.co.uk
Job-seekers without access to a computer can call into any of the Council’s libraries where they can complete an application form online for free during the next two weeks.
Alternatively, they can text ssijobs to 07775 411472 and someone will call them back to discuss their application.
Councillor George Dunning, the Leader of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said: “We will be doing all we can to help people secure one of these jobs. I would urge anyone who wants help with their application form to contact our helpline for advice without delay and wish good luck to all applicants.”
