The death of Geoff Waterfield is a truly tragic loss for his family, friends, Trade Union comrades the Trade Union movement and the Teesside community.
I am still reeling at the news of the death of Geoff, who has passed at the young age of just 43, and who died tragically without seeing the fruits of his Labour in the restarting of the Redcar Blast Furnace which he was fundamentally instrumental in securing the restart of for every man, woman and child on Teesside.
My heart really goes out to his family at this time.
Geoff will always be remembered as a truly great Teesside man by everyone who had the good fortune to come into contact with him.
