Two festive events have boosted civic good causes by thousands of pounds, the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland has announced.
Councillor Olwyn Peters hosted a ‘People’s Ball’ at Bydales School, in Marske, raising £2,700 for her chosen charities of the Zoe’s Place baby hospice, the Mike Findley MND Fund and Redcar’s Coatham House.
The Oriental-themed sell-out ball was organised entirely by the school’s pupils, who were tasked with putting on all aspects of the event.
Meanwhile, a carol concert in St John’s Church, South Bank – supported by the Marske Fishermen’s Choir, the Topline Community Arts Project and St Margaret Clitherow Primary School – raised £450.
Councillor Peters said: “I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making these events such a great success and raising much-needed funds for some fantastic local charities.”
