Brigade advice on petrol storage
Cleveland Fire Brigade has issued safety advice to residents on petrol storage in light of potential fuel delivery strikes. The key message is to put safety first.
The Brigade’s priority is the safety of residents and firefighters, so we advise people not to store fuel due to the increased fire risk.
Phil Lancaster, Director of Community Protection with Cleveland Fire Brigade, said: “Storing petrol in your home greatly increases the risk of fire and the potential of fire spreading rapidly, particularly if it is stored near an ignition source.
“For those people who choose to ignore this advice, there are legal requirements and local guidelines to follow.”
