On Saturday 11th August, Helping Hands for you, a local charity that supports elderly and disabled residents in the Redcar area, will be organising a fun run in Locke Park to raise much needed funds. The charity is inviting all runners back to the Redcar Literary Institute for refreshments.
Helping Hands for you offer a befriending service on a one to one basis, providing transport for much needed hospital visits and shopping trips as well as general visits to keep people company and help with everyday tasks.
Ian Swales, Local MP for Redcar said: “I will be popping into this event between my regular advice surgeries. They are a great charity and much needed in our area. The elderly population need to engage with people on a daily basis to stay healthy, and with Helping Hands for you there is always someone at the end of the phone.
“I visited them earlier this week and was treated to an afternoon of tea, cakes and lots of conversations which I really enjoyed. I hope people will pop along on the 11th August and support the runners and Helping Hands for you.
