BBC Tees Breakfast Show Presenter and Middlesbrough FC Match day Commentator Alistair Brownlee was in attendance lending his support to the launch of a new five-a-side programme to get men aged over 35 back into football.
The Over 35’s Friday Night League which will officially get underway in September at Goals Teesside, is launching a FREE 5 a side session on Tuesday 14th August 2012, kicking off at 6pm. Ali Brownlee said “It will give thousands of men the chance to swap their armchairs for the pitch in a relaxed atmosphere.” He continued “With the opportunity to play at the same place, same time every week on small pitches, I’m sure the take up will be huge.”
Kash Patel, Goals Soccer Centre General Manager said “We are opening our doors on Tuesday 14th to anybody aged 35 or over who would like to have a kick around.” He joked “Ali even suggested he might pop along although he tried to convince me that he’d just turned 35.”
The programme is backed by the FA’s Small Sided Football Development Fund and the North Riding FA. “This is a great chance for men to rediscover their love of football, just at the age when some are considering hanging up their boots”, said Steven Wade.
The Friday Night over 35’s League will open up new opportunities for men who want to take part in football in a fun and friendly environment. With professionally managed and refereed matches, the fully inclusive Friday Night over 35’s leagues will offer an exciting but friendly environment to play competitive football with excellent incentives available for all teams that sign up. These include drinks vouchers, free subscription to 4-4-2 magazine plus much more.
