Are you or someone you know 16-25 years old and looking for an exciting opportunity to gain new skills and experience? Cleveland Fire Brigade can help as its next two free Prince’s Trust Team Programmes begin on Monday 17 September 2012!
The Prince’s Trust Team Programme runs for 12 weeks in the Redcar and Cleveland area, and is designed to engage young people aged 16 – 25 from any background, to develop key skills including leadership, teamwork, problem solving and confidence. Team leaders also provide an insight into community safety and citizenship.
People are referred to the course through local organisations such as Connexions, Job Centre Plus and Youth Intervention Services, and can also self-refer.
Whilst on the course, volunteers are also given the opportunity to obtain nationally recognised qualifications such as City & Guilds Profile of Achievement, CIEH Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, Basic First Aid, NVQ Key Skills and a Fire Awareness Certificate.
Kelly Reed, Prince’s Trust Team Leader with Cleveland Fire Brigade, said “In this 12 week course, Team leaders aim to help young people develop their confidence, motivation and communication skills through a series of projects and challenges. There is also an emphasis on teamwork within the local community.
“We also concentrate on the volunteers’ future plans, e g job searching, the next steps week, an individual placement and also focus on the skills which are needed within today’s workplaces.”
Kelly added: “The Prince’s Trust Team programme is a dynamic, youth led project for people to learn new skills and work as a team, which requires full time commitment for the volunteers who take up the opportunity. If you are up to the challenge or know anyone who is, contact us for more information and come along to one of our taster days.”
Two courses are starting on Monday 17th September in the following places:
– Redcar Community Fire Station, Redcar, ran by Jodie Wood – the taster day for this course takes place on Monday 10 September 10-12
