And there are six more events for younger children at the Moors National Park Centre at Danby. Come to ‘Which Witch’ between 10am and 5pm from October 27 to November 4. The golden coins for the centre’s treasure trail have been looted by Benjamin Clarke. Centre staff believe he had an accomplice who is likely to be one of the old witches of the North York Moors.

Love drawing? Can’t draw? Won’t draw? The Big Draw is for you. Take part in celebratory activities, many of them free, or try something new at venues across the UK and further afield.

At Danby you can draw a giant adder and make a snake out of willow and cloth to dance around the grounds to charm the visitors! This free event takes place on October 29 from 11am to 3pm.

At Halloween on October 31 come and make spooky crafts. But make sure you book one of the following start times: 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm, or 2.30pm. Child: £3.00. Minimum age: four.

Finally, on November 2, explore the Centre’s grounds on an autumn-watch walk. Use the fallen leaves for creating artworks on the woodland floor.

Join in the scavenger hunt to find autumn treasures and make a treasure box to keep them in to take home. This event takes place between 10.30am and 12.30pm and costs £4.00 per child for children five years and above.

On the same day you can prepare for Christmas between 2.00pm and 4.00pm by designing and printing your own wrapping paper and cards. Learn how to make a Christmas garland from natural materials. Child: £5.00. Minimum age: seven.
