Remembrance Sunday ceremonies

Communities across Redcar and Cleveland will be holding ceremonies to mark Remembrance Sunday.

The following ceremonies are taking place on November 11, unless stated otherwise:

BOOSBECK
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor David Williams. Act of Remembrance at 2.30pm at the War Memorial, Boosbeck Cemetery, followed by service at St Aidan’s Parish Church at 3pm. On November 12, a service will be held at Lockwood Primary School Cenotaph at 10.50am.

BROTTON
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Doreen Rudland. Service begins at 9.45am in St Margaret’s Church, Brotton, followed by Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 11am.

CARLIN HOW
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Brian Hogg. Service of remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial at 11.45am.

DORMANSTOWN
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Ray Goddard. Parade will set off from the G2 building at 10.30am to arrive for the 10.45am remembrance service and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial (near All Saints Church).

EASINGTON
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Mary Lanigan. Service at All Saints Church at9am, followed by service of remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial at9.45am.

 

ESTON
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Chris Massey. The parade will leave the California Youth Centre, Guisborough Street, Eston, at 10.40am to arrive at the War Memorial, Eston Square, at 10.50am for a service of remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony.

Eston Square will be closed between 10.30am and 12.30pm and, during this time, the
following bus service diversions will be in place:

Arriva service 63: Buses will be diverted via Church Lane, Fabian Road and Birchington Avenue (and vice versa).

Arriva service 64B: Buses will be diverted via Church Lane and Fabian Road (and vice versa). Consequently, they will omit Eston Square, Eston High Street (Lodge Farm and Barnaby House stops), Jubilee Road, Bankfields and the section of Birchington Avenue between Whale Hill Top and Fabian Road.

GRANGETOWN
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Peter Dunlop. Service at St Hilda’s Church at 9.30am, followed by wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial.

GUISBOROUGH
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Bill Suthers. Parade forms up inNew Road at about10.30am for march off at10.40am to the War Memorial for dedication, followed by service in St Nicholas Church and wreath-laying ceremony.

 

LAZENBY
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Steve Goldswain. Service at 11am in St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, Wilton, followed by Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial.

LINGDALE
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Steve Kay. Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 1.50pm.

LOFTUS
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Mary Lanigan. Parish Requiem Mass at St Leonard’s Parish Church at 9am (also a Mass at St Joseph’s & St Cuthbert’s RC Church at 9am). At 10.45am the parade will process from Water Lane to the War Memorial for a service of remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony.

MARSKE
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Madge Moses. Service at St Mark’s Church at 10.45 am, followed by wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial.

MOORSHOLM
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Steve Kay. Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 9am.

NEW MARSKE
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Norah Cooney. Service at St Thomas Church at 3pm followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.

NORMANBY
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Wendy Wall. Parade will form up in Parklands Car Park at10.50am to process to the War Memorial at Smith’sDockPark, Normanby, on Saturday, November 10, for10.55am service and wreath-laying Ceremony.

 

NORTH SKELTON
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Brian Briggs. Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony to take place at the War Memorial at 1pm.

ORMESBY
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Glyn Nightingale. Remembrance service at St Cuthbert’s Church, Church Lane, Ormesby, at 9.45am, followed by Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial in the churchyard.

REDCAR
The Redcar branch of the Royal British Legion will hold its annual Remembrance Day parade and service. The parade, led by the Cleveland Police Band, will form up at the Coatham Road Social Club and march off at 10.35am for the Remembrance Service and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial on Coatham Road.

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by the Mayor, Councillor Denise Bunn. After the service the Mayor, branch president and others will move to the saluting base, which will be outside Redcar Youth Centre, Coatham Road, next to the Cenotaph. The salute will be taken from this location.

Coatham Road will be closed between 10.40am and 11.40am – during this time, bus services 22A and 81 will be diverted via West Dyke Road and Corporation Road. Alternative stops should be used at Locke Park Corner or Regent Walk, Morrisons (22A) or Redcar Clock (81).

SALTBURN
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Joan Guy. Service at the Emmanuel Church at10am, followed by parade to the War Memorial for wreath-laying ceremony at11am.

 

SKELTON
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Briggs or McLuckie. Service at All Saints Parish Church at 9.30am, followed by Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 10.50am.

SKINNINGROVE
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Barry Hunt. Service of remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 12.15pm.

SOUTH BANK
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Sylvia Szintai. Service of remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial, Normanby Road, South Bank, at 10.45am.

TEESVILLE
One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Sheelagh Clarke. Service and wreath-laying ceremony in Eston Cemetery (next to the war graves) on Saturday November 10 at 10am.
