Shonette Bason is a mum to 6 children, a qualified teacher and known as the Mary
Poppins of Motivation and author of Pirate George and Pirate George’s Number
For many years Shonette has honed her craft and is an expert when it comes to
education of early years, 0-5 years old. Her Dough Disco and Squiggle while you
Wiggle are taught all over the country. She is a regular on the public speaking circuit
giving inspiring talks at conferences.
Shonette being a mother and a teacher has managed to find ways of entertaining ‘the
little people’ in her life through her imagination and resourcefulness. She is always
being asked for ideas and regularly shares them on Twitter. And now she is showing
how to do it in her own web series Shonette Shares.
It’s been recently revealed that parents only spend 49 mins with their children each
day. So Shonette is on a mission to inspire families to spend more time together
having fun and without breaking the bank.
During the Easter holiday Shonette began the campaign to find cost effective
fun for the family to have together.
Her first outing was to do The Poundland Challenge. Shonette was set the task
to spend only £10 in Poundland to help create an afternoon of activity.
Shonette makes things to play with from the items bought, in her home with
Shonette is passionate about family fun being inexpensive and champions these places
of interests and attractions that are cost effective and family friendly – Tweddle Farm,
St Cuthbert’s Cave and Rock Pooling.
In the summer holidays we are launching Shonette Shares 6 Ideas for Summer.
Releasing one video a week across the school holidays showing how families can
have fun together without breaking the bank.
Kicking it all off is Shonette Shares Saltburn Beach Sandbomb. Inviting families
to come down and enjoy the beach. Shonette grew up in Saltburn and it was recently
in the news for the ‘yarnbombers’ and their knitted displays mysteriously appearing.
Saltburn has lots to offer and the beach itself is magnificent!

Shonette is inviting families, artists and all sand
lovers to join her and her family for a day of
Sandbombing, building sandcastles and we hope
to see some sand sculptures.

and let’s get digging!”
This is all happening on Sunday 14 July between
11am and 3pm. Shonette will be interviewing
families and meeting the local businesses and
celebrating all things Saltburn!
